Bounce with me

Greg Grimes was the type of man who could be found in a record store purchasing Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" and Handel's "Messiah" at the same time. He was rational, meticulous, sensitive, and loved to go deep into any subject that captured his fancy. He loved to experiment and normally operated more from the left-side of his brain. That is until something technical failed to function as it should.

One night Greg was outside trying to separate two Rubbermaid tubes. He pulled and tugged, but the tubes refused to budge. Exasperated with this mechanical malfunction, the right-side of his brain took over and Greg decided to bounce them apart using his bodily mass. Greg was a healthy man with a robust appetite; in consequence, he was also overweight. He imagined that the sheer force of his weight would magically spring the tubes loose. An interesting theory to be sure and yet ill-conceived.

Diana was in her upstairs bedroom that overlooked the the driveway where her father happened to be that night before the bounce. All she heard was an "ahhhhhhhhhh" followed by a loud thud. She immediately recognized her father's voice and ran outside. He was rolling around on the ground in agony, as the Rubbermaid tubes had bounced him while remaining securely fastened together.

To make matters worse for Greg's bruised pride, Nancy came out and said, "Well Honey, all you have to do is pull them apart" and she proceeded to do just that with effortless ease.
